Getting Ready
From the moment I arrived at Stevenson Ridge in Spotsylvania, I just knew the day was going to be perfect. The weather was gorgeous, and the vibes from both sides of the bridal party were immaculate and the florals from Thompsons Westwood Florist in Fredericksburg were stunning. A photographer's dream scenario, really! This was my first time meeting Lynsey and DJ in person, but Lynsey and I had been chatting for months prior to the wedding, so I knew we would be fast friends!
Stevenson Ridge has a new bridal suite and groomsmen quarters that were not on the property when I got married there in 2022. I was so excited for Lynsey and DJ to have the opportunity to have a space like that to relax and get ready with friends and family. The bridal suite has large windows that let in lots of natural light, so getting ready pictures were easy to take! The space is equipped with a bathroom, full vanity with multiple chairs and a large mirror and plenty of spaces to sit and relax.
The groomsmen suite is perfect for large groomsmen parties and also has a lot of natural light. The space is an upstairs loft very close to the bridal suite, but separated by a small shed and trees so you are sure to not be seen entering and exiting the separate spaces! There is a bathroom, a large mirror, and plenty of seating.

The Ceremony
Lynsey and DJ opted not to do a first look, so DJ got to see Lynsey as a bride for the first time at her walk down the aisle. The moment was full of emotion and I loved that they decided to keep this moment traditional.
The weather was stunning that first week of October, so they really got to enjoy a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in front of the pond on site. The sun was in the perfect spot and really made Lynsey's skin glow during their vow exchange. Cheryl, Lynsey's mom, had already been crying happy tears all day, so I wasn't surprised when I looked over to find her in a puddle of tears watching her little girl get married.
This leads to my absolute favorite part of the wedding day, that final walk down the aisle! This is where all the nerves are gone, you've gotten through the vows, and all the excitement is on full display! I love when couples share a few kisses walking back down the aisle like they did! You can really see the joy in their eyes and how much their personalities come out after the ceremony!

The Reception
This family knows how to throw a good party! The dance floor was electric pretty much the entire night. Big Day Productions really did a great job keeping the party going, playing lots of throwback songs and songs that are popular today. They came equipped with all sorts of lights and great music that really set the tone for the night including a photo booth that was a hit with the guests.

My favorite parts of the reception were the late-night snacks. I thought the pretzels and beer cheese was so creative and a great way to let guests refuel to keep the party going. DJ took his groomsmen out on the back porch to shotgun a celebratory beer, which made for an awesome flash photography moment.

I have so many good things to say about this wedding. The couple and thier fmailies were wonderful people, the vendors were wonderful to work with, the food was delicious, and the weather was perfect. Overall the day went smoothly and I am so happy i was chosen to capture this day and all the emotion and people that made this day so special for Lynsey & DJ.

Weddings at Stevenson Ridge, Spotsylvania VA

Stevenson Ridge is a gorgeous venue for couples who arent looking for a barn venue but still want that cozy welcoming vibe. The property is affixed with multiple private cabins that were torn down from various location surrounding Virginia and rebuilt onto the property. This is super convenient for couples who have out of town relatives or simply want to stay on the premises post wedding.
The Bridal suite and groomsmen quarters are top notch and are designed with brides and grooms in mind. The suites are spacious, allowing entire bridal parties to get ready without being on top of one other. From a photography standpoint, the natural light radiating through both sides of the bridal suite is ideal for photographers looking to capture indoor bridal portraits.
The coordinators and catering staff really set this venue apart! Taylor, the coordinator, was extremley professional and friendly and made sure that I had all the up to date information regarding timelines and special moments. She was on top of it during the wedding day, checking in multiple times to ensure the day was progressing as scheduled. Dont even get me started about the food! Lynsey and DJ had so many options that i could hardly keep track but a few things that stood out to me were the mac and cheese bar and late night snacks! Specifically the pretzel bar with beer cheese. They really made sure their guests were well equipped to dance the night away!
